According to experts, the total reserves of oil shale in the world approximate 650 trillion. t. They can get up to about 26 trillion. t of shale oil. Thus, the volume-like raw materials contained in the shales and conventionally called shale oil is 13 times more than the reserves of conventional oil. At current levels of consumption, these energy resources will be sufficient for 300 years of continuous production.

The most successful example of the perfect using of the technologies of shale oil production - Bakken oil field (Bakken) in North and South Dakota. The development of this field has brought a kind of euphoria in the oil market in North America. If 5 years ago, shale oil production at this field amounted to 60 thousand barrels per day, while today 500 thousand. As the exploration works of the oil reserves of this field has increased from 150 million barrels to 11 billion barrels of oil.

The topical issue of finding shale oil in Tatarstan is determined primarily by the deteriorating structure of the reserves and the decline in commodity quality of the extracted oil. For the reason that shale fields and low-permeability strata contain light, sweet crude oil, it could be mixed with sour Tartar oil, increasing its commercial quality. That is, the discovery and development of shale oil in the Republic can radically change the economic situation.

According to the results of geophysical researching of Devonian deposits of the Bavly field, revealed a saturation of the domanik deposits. Besides, carried out economic calculations on some of wells. Based on economic calculations, proposed directions for the future development of domanic deposits of OGEM "Bavlyneft".
