In the context of increased production of active reserves which are mainly concentrated in the most permeable part of the reservoir, especially relevant is the use of flow-stimulation methods allowing to restrain water breakthroughs in the zones with better flow properties and direct driving force of the agent injected to displace of oil from low-permeability layers, thus involve difficult-to-recover reserves in low-permeability interlayers..
In the oil industry polymer solutions characterized by high viscosity, thixotropy and pseudoplasticity are becoming more and more popular.. The need for polymers is based on their ability to affect the rheological properties of aqueous systems to form gels of different densities.
There are two most common biopolymer:
1. RBC-Xanthan;
2. Scleroglucan
RBC-Xanthan technology has been used to increase the reservoir sweep by displacing agent as a result of blocking the washed areas and redistribution of injected water flow paths in the reservoir.
The technology is recommended to be employed while developing an oil field with heterogeneous terrigenous and carbonate reservoirs.
